It Will Be Ugly and Raw But You Will Be Loved; 2024

This work was inspired by my research into feminist artists, their work, and their subversions of the male gaze. I wanted to incorporate these explorations of the tender self, vulnerable femininity and attention grabbing imagery into my concept, resulting in this tactile, sculptural cloak of female flesh and genitalia. The discomfort comforts the wearer and the comfort discomforts the viewer. Womanhood is not always going to be beautiful, and perhaps it will even be uncomfortable, but it will always be here, existing in all its raw reality.
Overconsumption's Bride; 2023

A white outfit accented by plastic and oranges. I used waste from my clothing retail job to create a woven top, and a vinyl tablecloth and the leftover food waste from my home’s kitchen to create a quilted skirt. The result is a commentary on overconsumption in today’s society.

As someone who feels burned out constantly, I created a tangible expression of that difficult-to-communicate feeling, resulting in this wearable mask. I used various heat-related techniques to capture that exhausted heaviness with weight and texture. It outwardly expresses how one feels, instead of inviting miscommunication and misunderstandings.
