Childhood Feelings; 2023
Acrylic on canvas, fabric, thread, fabric marker, pom-poms, hand sewn;
A pastiche of childhood memories.
Plastic Memories; 2023
An exploration of the components of my childhood environment - what influenced me growing up. Basing the composition off a map of the places that I both currently and used to frequent in my city, I created collaged pockets of trinkets from those places and aspects of my life.
Found items (receipts, cards, wrappers, flyers, paper, etc) encased in vinyl, thread, fabric, yarn, origami, buttons, beads. Machine and hand sewn.
Good Fish; 2022
A deconstructed fish composed entirely of materials I collected around my home that would have ended up in the trash otherwise.
Acrylic paint on wooden panels, plaster, found Items: plastic, foam, wire, bottles, receipts, circuitboards, zipties, CD’s.
Better to Burn Out Than to Disappoint our Corporate Overlords; 2022
Digital collage image transferred onto cardboard, wire, string, duct tape, Amazon packaging components, acrylic paint, marker, crayon;
It's unfair that childhood is tainted by capitalistic systems, such as social media, that essentially trick impressionable kids into commodifying their youth. This work reflects that deception and its consequences as a tattered six-page parody of an Amazon-sponsored children’s labour magazine.
